Judicial Officers Deployed to ECCMIS Implementing Courts Trained On Its Processes

At least 33 Judicial Officers, at the rank of Registrars and Magistrates, recently deployed to courts implementing the Electronic Court Case Management Information System (ECCMIS)were taken through a three-days training on how to utilize the System.

The training which took place at the Judicial Training Institute gave an overview of the ECCMIS System, ECCMIS Capabilities, their individual roles on the ECCMIS and were encouraged to seek assistance whenever they needed to.

HW Bwambale Daniel who represented the Registrar JTI HW Mary Kaitesi, noted that ICT was being embraced in all sectors to facilitate online service delivery. "Both Government and the Private Sector have to move in that direction and adopt the emerging new technologies ifthey are to cope with the current global world," he said.

HW Bwambale told the participants that they needed to embrace the opportunity before them to learn, understand and ask for assistance to be able to effectively and efficiently use the system for their day to day operations at their respective Courts.

HW Jamson Karemani the Deputy Registrar Civil Division shared his experience on the use of ECCMIS. He encouraged Judicial Officers to first love the system to be able to use it effectively, to share the work validations, allocations and registration with other court staff. He also urged the ICT department to work on the System to ensure that there are no delays. 

HW Karemani implored the Judicial Officers to use ECCMIS at their stations in improving record keeping which includes automating and standardizing manual procedures, improve efficiency in their daily activities, provide a wide range of analytical reports and detailed case audit trails. This, he said, would help to reduce chances of physical contact with Court Staff thereby combating bribery. 

He also informed participants that an ECCMIS Call Centre had been established and could be reached for any assistance.

The Principal Information Technology Officer, Mr David Kikabi, took participants through the introductory part and main functionalities of ECCMIS while Mr Joseph Ssinabulya, the Senior ICT Officer led the ECCMIS technical team in guiding the participants on how to optimally use the System.

The training was closed by the Chairperson of the ECCMIS Technical Committee, Hon. Lady Justice Immaculate Busingye, who urged the participants to put to practice their new knowledge.
